Mobility Choice Blueprint
Completed in 2019, the Mobility Choice Blueprint is a collaborative strategy to help the Denver region's transportation sector prepare for and invest in the rapidly changing technology revolutionizing mobility. Funded and developed in partnership with the Colorado Department of Transportation, the Regional Transportation District and the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, the blueprint provides strategic direction for planners to anticipate evolving mobility needs related to multimodal transportation.
With a horizon of 2030, the blueprint analyzed travel trends and technologies, explored and evaluated various technologies and their implications for mobility and created new planning and implementation partnerships.
Advanced Mobility Partnership
The partners that developed the Mobility Choice Blueprint established the Advanced Mobility Partnership to implement tactics and action items from the plan. Shared micromobility
The widespread launch of dockless e-scooter and e-bike sharing programs throughout the region highlighted the need for a coordinated approach to shared micromobility. As shared micromobility fleets quickly expanded, state and local partners began working to ensure regulations enhance safety and promote mobility options.
The Micromobility Work Group is one of the ways that DRCOG staff support local, regional, state and federal agency efforts and fosters collaboration with partner agencies. The Micromobility Work Group meets quarterly. To support the Micromobility Work Group, DRCOG staff published the Shared Micromobility in the Denver region whitepaper. This document highlights regional considerations and policy recommendations for the program managers. The whitepaper is updated as program management evolves.
Additionally, through a regional Shared Micromobility Data Collaborative, staff from DRCOG, partner agencies and member governments share micromobility data and analytics. The Ride Report data portal provides an overview of e-bike and e-scooter use regionwide, as well as in each of the communities with shared micromobility programs. DRCOG maintains an inventory of shared micromobility programs, which is updated annually. DRCOG staff use the inventory to maintain an interactive Shared Micromobility in Colorado web map which highlights shared micromobility programs statewide.
